Add To Homescreen 3.1.0

This latest release is all about Android fragmentation.

Maintaining a JS library has become a daunting task. Especially with hacky libraries such as Add to Homescreen or iScroll. Every new iOS version makes some changes to the browser and the script always needs to be updated.

Version 3 introduced android compatibility and with it an all new load of problems. It works fine with stock Google phones but it has some usability issues with basically every other vendor. This latest update tries to solve this issue by making the call out more generic.

As a result the message for android has to be translated again in all languages (defaulted to English), while the iOS one fortunately stays the same.

Please beta test this latest version and let me know when you think. Thanks!

  1. Hi, I just downloaded the latest version and it works on my iPad with iOS 9.0.2 but it is not adding the local storage on my iPhone 4S with the same iOS?

  2. Hi Matteo! I’m writing to tell you how I appreciated your “Add to Homescreen” plug-in!
I will donate to you once I got my first customer, I promise! 🙂
Do you have any plan to incorporate the Push Notification technology into the Web-Apps? Or it is even possible? Is it possible for us to tweak the Js codes ourselves, maybe with some tutorials and guidance from you?
I think with that implementation, it would save lots of our hassle to separately develop a mobile-apps instead and have to go through Marketplace or App Store’s approval!
Hope to get some positive inputs from you soon!

  3. Hi There,

I can’t get this to run at all on iPhone 6S/iOS 9.3.2 – not even the demo on your site.

Is there a known issue at present?

  4. Hi Matteo,

Great script, just having an issue with the three dots … appearing at the top of my page. I’m a designer not a coder, so I need a bit of help. Thank you so much!

    1. Solved the issue, but have some others that have come up. Please email me and I’d be happy to reimburse you for your help.

    2. Rocco,

What did you find was the issue? I’m in the same boat as in not being a coder. I can’t get the script to run at all on my site, and I’m not sure what the three dots are about. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
